Here we have the IRS unit or rear axle unit from a series II eType Jaguar. We have actually featured the car before in a video series where we repaired a stuck valve in the engine. We are happy to report the owner was over the moon with our repair and has now stripped out and sent us the IRS unit to be restored and reconditioned.
The work will include a differential rebuild, new calipers, up rating the suspension system, new bearings and bushes, soda blasting and Zinc plating the whole unit to show standards.
Once we had stripped the unit down it highlighted the fact that it was bent , probably from a previous accident in the past so we had a little bit of extra work to make it straight and true again before we could finish it off and rebuild it.
